The renowned publisher has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently working on the anticipated over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Management Shift Follows Poor Response
Brinkman steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' disappointing initial reveal last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer notified team members about this organizational change through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a clearer direction.
Ismailer noted that the developers is now reimagining Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
A Pattern of Key Recruitment
The news echoes a comparable step taken by the publisher in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Below is the full message from Ismailer's communication:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just completed your gathering - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a note, I expressed the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative creators we have had the pleasure to work with - and we’re looking forward for that partnership to continue.”
With your dedication and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The gamer responses from last fall’s the game playtest was revealing. It confirmed the promise of a action-packed game but told us we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the requirement for a more distinct brand.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You took the criticism to heart and overhauled Project ETHOS with a renewed goal - one that’s ready to achieve its potential to our fans.
The belief in Project ETHOS increases every day. To advance the incredible progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome the new hire as the new Lead of 31st Union. Following several months of conversations, Ben starts with us on the specified date.
Ben’s management and experience in the PVP shooter genre is extensive, having devoted the last 15 years creating and leading some of the most well-known series in the industry, for example the acclaimed shooter, and lately, the battle royale hit.
Let’s together in greeting him soon. We are all looking forward to persist observing the progress of the game in the months to follow.
The President
